The Skin I'm In

I stand before a mirror and see

a supple shield
to bones and tendons
resilient and soft
together with purpose

lines of freckles
dance their way
down a left arm and
up a right calf

never model-thin
but with curves that
speak volumes
and invite touch

never perfect
never was, never will be
but it's beautiful, it's me
it's the skin I'm in.

  1. the beauty is the woman who wears this skin. she is so confident and comfortable in that skin!
