Branded

From the sheltered harbour of a dream
I watch as you lie sleeping in my bed
watch muscled rise and fall
a man's soft deep breath
sharp clean edge of jaw
from ear to chin
a linear explosion
in blurred light of dawn
I watch, lean in
spy a pulse beat at your neck
sending seismic trembles
along shaded parchment skin
inching closer, without thought
press rose madder lips
against this living proof of you
drumming beneath my transparent kiss
and as I move away
I see the stain I've left behind
the brand that names you
mine.

  8. Watching sleeping lovers lie - it is a treasure of a moment you capture, beautiful and serene, with the twinge of romantic quality underlying the course of the whole thing. As you got to describing the pulse in his neck, I was given almost this darkly vampiric quality, briefly, ghostly, I will admit, but the rest of the work proceeded on quite lovingly. Particularly enjoyed the image of: "drumming beneath my transparent kiss."

  10. Beautiful, Diana. Capture of a moment with an image that is soft and real as a lover's touch...you almost made me remember when I had hormones. ;_) The last lines are just exquisite.
